Quest 1.1

1.1 The Crashing Waves of Reality

The external world is gathered, prepared, and relayed to our conscious minds as a representation of reality unique to our selves. Every color, shape, feeling is our own to bear. In a world alone, we journey through our mind’s eye swimming in an air of waves, walls, cracks, and pits.

But for those obstructions, we’d swim from birth to death completely unperturbed. As a lone agent, we’d believe what we want, understand what we will, and feel as much as we could. That world alone, in our minds, exists, but only as a pool of stimuli churned to project an irreality we want, will and feel.

As one agent among billions, including billions of animals, viruses, and bacteria, we reside in a compromised world separate our minds. As we venture in this teeming world of competing agents of life and death, we swirl in waves, smash against reefs, and wash up on uncharted beaches. It is there, where we meet reality and it is there where our mind’s eye is thrashed and shaken.

It is our destiny to explore uncharted beaches. There, we feel the sand between our fingers and toes, climb beyond the beach head, and find what is unique to each island. When all is said and done, this world is composed only of islands: metropolis, culture, knowledge, wisdom, hate, love, all of it; every thought, feeling, system, and program is an island and there are many.

Over the last few millennia, humanity constructed physical, spiritual, and philosophical bridges among the islands, but not all. This has made dwelling on one island easier and the occasional vacation of fad and forget popular. Critically, it is a mainstay of modernity to phase through worldviews as a devoted resident of a single island, convinced, nevertheless, the mind is in peripatetic drift.

Understandably, it is daunting to license the mind to drift the seas of self-consciousness and otherness. Some get lost in it and never return "right." Adrift, the mind loses the drapery of consensus society stripping the body of the day's fashions and consensus reality- our day-to-day comforts.

Modern drift is done within the confines of pre-phased cryogenic chambers. There, the same phases of discovery churn young self-absorbed idealists and old self-interested pragmatists. In every phase, the most prominent "self-discoveries" are egoism and tribalism.

The egoist calculates his means to prominence up the social ladder regardless of authority or capability. The tribalist clings to his generic worldview, hailing it honorable in direct contrast to some other shamefully barbaric worldview. All the same, the egoist and tribalist wear a uniform sowed by the hands of coolies in dungeons of industry. Champions of the good...

Modernity shivers in chilled chambers unperturbed by true obstructions. Modernists pump themselves with anti-depressants and mood stabilizers so that true discovery is rebuffed and chided. The chamber dial is set to stasis while the mind dances in consumptive revelry.

Modernity is fat, ugly, unhealthy and DELUSIONAL.

The modernist enjoys the drift of channels that loudly whisper prefabricated storylines of identity, mores, and revenge. But it's a delusion. Certainly not all of it, but the underlying thrust of it, that purpose which lights the soul, is led askew by storylines NOT OUR OWN.

It is our task to brave the exploration of new islands, to bash into walls, to climb out of pits, and to accept the bludgeon of reality. Give license to your mind to challenge the prescriptions of bridged island schema. Swim, leap, and dare to build new bridges. Amidst the chaos of discovery, find your heart, mind, and soul; see your story; throttle your life's course of action with vigor and passion.

If you join in...

As mariners of chaos, we chart our individual path to true will. True will is the execution of real choice. And real choice is made when we discover options beyond our resident island. This means that free and true will exist, but only as the vigorous execution of a reality discovered in drift, bludgeoned by reality.

Without an awareness of option, there is no true choice, then there is no free will.

Your will, then, is freed by a daring endeavor to explore, bash, leap, and build in mind minus the compromises of the external world. Passionately, bloodied, bludgeoned, you trek toward greater discoveries of self and world- a true human being.
